When things feel hard

Many adults come to counselling feeling like they can’t seem to get anything right, no matter how hard they try. You might feel frustrated with yourself, stuck in the same situations, or wondering why you keep ending up in the same place.

Others seek support during periods of grief, low mood or depression, or when life feels heavier than usual and harder to carry alone. Some people notice they spend a lot of time overthinking, second-guessing themselves, trying to keep everyone else happy, or putting pressure on themselves to get things right.

People often say things like, “I try to do the right thing, but I keep messing things up,” or “I feel like a failure, even when I know I’m doing my best.” These experiences can be exhausting and isolating, especially when you’re carrying them quietly.

Making sense of what’s underneath

In counselling, we take time to gently explore what may be sitting underneath these experiences. What often feels like “getting it wrong” or “not coping well enough” is usually connected to ways of responding that developed for a reason.

With support, it becomes possible to understand these responses with more compassion, recognise when they are no longer helping, and begin to respond to yourself and to life in a different, less exhausting way.

What counselling looks like

Counselling sessions offer a space to talk openly about what’s going on for you, without judgement or pressure to explain things perfectly. Sessions are collaborative and paced carefully, allowing time to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels manageable.

Our counsellors work in a respectful and thoughtful way, supporting you to make sense of what you’re experiencing and to find ways of coping that feel more sustainable in everyday life.

Getting started

If you feel that counselling may be helpful, you’re welcome to get in touch to make an initial enquiry. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about — that can be explored together.

You can also contact us by email or text if that feels easier.
